Help with sneaky car salemen?
I was looking at a 2010 plated new car and had negotiated the price down to $24500 I wanted a flat $24000 but they said they cant go any lower. I haven't signed anything but verbal said I would buy it and they were emailing me the contracts to sign.
I was looking on their website just then and they have ripped me off because they are offering a $1000 cash back on 2010 plated cars so It should be around $24200 I am majorly annoyed because they didn't mention this at all.
I will be calling them up tomorrow morningi to demand a flat $24000 but do you think I could get more because they were going to give me a discount of $750 not including my trade in, so should I say I want the cashback and another $750 off that final price???
I will also be double checking that the contract inculdes the 10yr warranty they promised.
these dealers are not your friends, all they want to do is fleece you, and no if you worked with one deal, they will have some crappy excuse to not honor it anyway. Forget confronting them and demanding this or that, these guys have all day long, they try to wear you down, planning on you being to busy to play their exhausting game, take the paper work in, write final offer on the top and walk out the door without a word. And if they take more than a day to think about it, shop somewhere else. It is a buyers market, this means you have lots of time to buy a car its slow, make your offer lower than that now. you can always go up, not back down. best of luck I suggest you spend a few hours online I believe if you are patient, you will find even a bettter deal than what you have now. Email your best price to several big online dealers, type in auto trader and the type of car, there are hundreds if not thousands of dealers you can email, find one nearby where you live, If you offered say 2 grand less and some dealer said ok? would you drive a couple hundred miles to get the car? (and specify the details including color and interior and options. and no signing nothing until you see and drive the actual car. best of luck, be patient.
