help! if I bought a car without title?
bad luck and I should blame myself that I was stupid.
anyway, It already happened.
few days ago I was tricked by a bad guy and he sold me a car with a wreck and poor title.
when I go to DMV to transfer the car to my name. but they said the title is too poor an said I need to give them a new one. so I called the guy, he told me he will order a new one from DMV but then he just disappeared. I called the DMV and give them the VIN to check in their database if there is an order record for duplicate title of this car. they said no.
then I checked the carfax history and find that the bad guy is not the owner, owner sold this car to a dealer and then it was sold at a auto auction. so I think may be the bad guy bought it from the auction without doing a title transfer and then sold it to me.
so does any body know what should I do to made up my lost?
does any body know that if DMV has a way to handle this problem?
Keep the car on your property for a while and check into getting an abandoned automobile title. DMV will make you send letters and get letters from everyone who had anything to do with this car. Letter from the auctioneer stating they have no interest in this car, If the title is still in old owner's name, letter from him stating no interest in this car. It is a long process.
Also call the DMV and Motor vehicle dealer board and report the guy who sold it to you. He should have changed the title to his name before selling it to you. Good luck. I did this before and it took two-three months
