How do you make a cardboard bench?
So for my senior project I am doing a shadow show, and I have to have a bench in my scene, but I am having trouble making it. It needs to be the size of a regular bus stop bench, maybe a little bit smaller, since I have shadow to help me with the size. I am using cardboard, because it is very light, and can be moved easily, and I have an unlimited amount to my disposal that I get from my job.
If anyone has a site that I could go to, could you please put it in your answer? I am having trouble finding a good site to help me out. And if you have ever made a cardboard bench, your help would be very much appreciated. If you have any ideas that may help with it, please don't hesitate to tell me about it.
Oh yeah, I have TONS of duct tape also. Which helped with the tree and the car cut out that I had to make. But this bench has to be 3D since I am going to be sitting on it.
"laminate" 4 or 5 sheets of cardboard with white school glue and let dry for at least a day completely weighted. An overturned desk work's best. Make a bunch of these for different portions of your bench. Cut out the profile of the bench (like the arm, back and two legs). You'll need two for a two seater, another in the middle for a longer one.
Use a jigsaw to cut out holes for the back and bottom slats. Reinforce under the holes with another sheet of cardboard. It gives the slats extra surface area to distribute weight and will help a bit with the bending of the seat. Slide in the slats (made in the same way as the profile). Secure seams with hot glue (in the holes).
