Holiday in United Kingdom?
I am planning to take a driving holiday in UK in October beginning. This is what I have chalked out from myself for the time being.
Take a train from London to York. Hire the car from there. Here's how I plan to spend my holidays:
1. York - 2 nights
2. Lake District (Windermere) - 1 night
3. Edinburgh - 3 nights
4. Inverness - 2 nights
Does this itinerary sounds good? Should I include or exclude any destinations? Which are the close by places that I could and should visit from these 4 base cities that I have identified. Since I will have the car at my disposal, driving to a place 2-3 hours shouldn't be a problem. Any other suggestions would be highly appreciated 
I have been to the Lake District in October many times. It rained some of the time but I also enjoyed nice weather. The rain made the waterfalls look nice! The Lake District can be busy at any time of the year at weekends.
You could plan your route from York to Windermere via the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. They cover a greater area than the Lake District and won't be crowded in October.
