Restoring an accidented vehicle?
I had an accident with my Jeep tj, it rolled over, the underside is perfect, and the only real damage was to the windshield, and doors, the rest is still fine, i took off the windshield frame/ windshield and doors, and am wanting to purchase replacements.
We declared the vehicle as a total loss, so now it is illegal to drive on the roads for now. The insurance payed the value, minus the scrap value of the vehicle witch was 20% when i purchased the 'Wrecked" vehicle
Once restored it must undergo an inspection before it can be re plated. What are some key things to look for / fix before i get the inspection done? Do they care about minor body work issues ? What things do they look for that would make them deny the car to be road worthy?
My location is in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
But i assume that car inspections would be similar if not the same criteria for passing or failing all across north America, except perhaps for a few municipal laws,
Inspections consist of brakes, lights, horn and safety belts. Make sure all are functional and you will be ok.
