Car For Scrap Prices
August 12th, 2010 by admin

is it true that you cannot scrap a m.o.t. failure car?my escort is sorn and no tax,not sure what to do?

i have a 1998 ford escort which failed its mot on lots of things and has other problems beside.it has now ran out of tax too.i thought i would be able to scrap it but was told i might not be able to because they need mot for scrappers to take them....this seems somewhat pointless to me if theyr just gonna cut it up anyway... i cant leave it on my friends drive much longer.should i call some scrapyards if the will take it or try to sell it in the free-ads?what will get me best price? it still has good bits mainly the engine which has low mileage and starts first time always even in snow.

you are confusing a scrap yard with the governments' scrap scheme, where the government and motor manufacturer will give you money to buy a new car. The car you use against a new one must be taxed and tested where as you can take any car down to a scrap yard (you may get anywhere from £25 onwards from the scrap dealer)
