should she have surgery or not ?
female with 2 kids has herniated disc in her neck at c3-c4 pushing on her spinal cord to the point of light numbness in her arm, yes also neck pain. she has great job 30.00 per hr (will lose job), 12 week leave act will exp in 6 weeks,leaving no time to recover. other disc's c5 to t1 herniated also but not spinal cord impingement. from car accident. past surgery included brain tumor removal which left neck pain. just bought home 1yr ago. 5 doctors opinions say do it 2 nero surg,1 chiropractor,1primary care,1 orthopedic. she has a lot to lose either way. if she waits possible paralysis, if she does it losses job, car, maybe home. husband can watch kids mon thru fri but works week ends 12hr shifts. can not take time off. no 1 else to watch kids.
law suite will take years and social security takes time 1 yr, which not many doctors want to do paper work, that includes the ones whom gave 5 opinions. lawyer cost money for disability. yes she has short term disability.
i think your friend needs a better lawyer if she is suffering from the results of negligence by some other driver then she should have access to the resources need to make her as whole as is possible. including any surguries and home care for her children as is reasonable.
