Mederma vs Other scar removal creams??
I was in a car accident this past August and had a open reduction fraacture. I broke my tibula and my fibula. I have had two sugeries which have resulted in huge scars one both sides of my legs. Two of them are about 8 inches long and the other is about 4 inches long. I have another scar (about 4 inches long) on my hip from the bone graft and it is very dark. What should I do/apply to them for the best results in scar removal? I have been rubbing Vitamin E oil on them every night and massaging it in. Are there any prescription scar medication or is Mederma the best way to go? I have good insurance to where the prescription would be paid for. The little tube of mederma would probably last only one day ( by going by its instructions to apply it 3-4 times a day) and to do this for 8 weeks plus at 15 bucks a tube is out of my price range. Any suggestions??? Experience??
i don't know if there's prescrtiption scar stuff... but i'm in PT school and i know they have just told us to work out the scars with massage if we have patients with them...it helps to keep your range of motion from being limited by the scar. As long as its still pink you can keep massaging it and it will help break up and align the new collagen. maybe just try some maderma for the beginning??? good luck
