Fairfield County Children Safety

Kid Safety Fairfield, County

Kid safety in Fairfield County has always been a concern for parents as well as local government officials. For this reason a program called Sake Kids was implemented that focuses on kid safety alone. This program offers information and tools needed to keep children, from age 0 to 14, safe.

Bicycle Safety

With spring here and everyone enjoying the outdoors comes the occasion to ride bicycles more. It is important to have good bicycle safety such as helmet, checking the breaks, making sure the tires are properly inflated and children do not ride without the supervision of an adult. These tips can help your child and you have a safe and healthy spring. Safe Kids provides training for both parents and children to learn how to be safe when riding their bicycles.

Poison Prevention

Poisoning from household chemicals is always a common threat in the home. SAFE KIDS also provides information on storing household chemicals as well as medications out of reach of children. There are more than one million calls each year to poison control centers nationwide. By learning how to safely store your household items and medicines, you can cut down the risk of your child accidentally being poisoned.

Home Safety

SAFE KIDS offers a Risk Watch Program that was developed by the National Fire Protection Agency to help children and their families learn the skills and knowledge they need to make their homes safe. They address areas including motor vehicle safety, fire and burn prevention, choking/suffocation/strangulation prevention, poison, fall prevention, firearm safety, bike, pedestrian and water safety as well.

Other Safety Services

In addition to bicycle safety, poison prevention, car seat safety and product recalls, they provide services such as playground safety inspections. This is to help prevent children from being injured on the playground from faulty equipment that should have been either removed or repaired before allowing children to play on them. They offer their services as a presentation on any child safety concern that may become necessary speaking in the past to hotels, day care centers and schools and parent groups. They even offer a loaner program for children with special needs to enjoy some of the same activities such as bicycle riding. They loan parents seats that make children with special needs able to go for a bike ride with their parents. Each of these is offered as kid safety for Fairfield County.
