Car Removal Victoria
June 29th, 2010 by admin

Trunk lock removal/installation?

2000 Ford Crown Victoria.

I need to replace the trunk lock cylinder on my car. It's not installed using bolts or anything I'm used to. Instead, it looks like two aluminum wingnut-looking-things are used to keep it in place.

How do I remove the trunk lock, and install the new trunk lock cylinder?
I dont see a U shape clamp of any kind. Maybe I'm misunderstanding.

Open the trunk up and there should be U shaped clip that holds it in place,, now take a big long screw driver and place it up in there(,if you can not get anything else up there. ) now
you take the screw driver and pry up on the top side of the U
clamp and it should slide straight up ,,Now if you get the U clamp off the lock cylinder will come out from the outside, Be sure that you do not damage the rubber gasket on the outside unless you have a new one with the other cylinder.
Just reverse every thing when you put the new one in..
Make sure you line the long flat rod on the back of the new lock up right or it will not go in ,it should go in easy if is lined
up right ..........b.Jerry30
