cars cash ebay
Have you ever sold a car on ebay?

Im looking at selling a car that needs restoration on ebay and just need some people with experience..so have you ever successfully sold a car on ebay? if so did you get the price you expecte/wanted? did you allow for people to come and examine the car? how did you have the winning buyer pay...by paypal, cash on collection or cheque? and if they're payingby cheque should i wait for te cheque to clear then allow them to take the car away??? thanks

Sold a few: Some tips I think are important:
1. Be VERY specific about condition, if you're not an expert, say so and invite inspection prior to bidding
2. Set a reasonable reserve. Check what similar stuff is going for (Sold my last car in less than an hour!)
3. Ask for a deposit by Paypal or bank transfer within a short time of sale end to cover the winning bidder not turning up & specify how soon you want the vehicle paid for & collected.
4. ALWAYS specify no zero rated bidders unless they contact you with a landline number & home postcode. If not, remove their bid & block them
5. Watch regularly & respond to questions promptly
6. Specify cleared funds before collection: ie, cash or bank transfer, or cleared cheque
7. Have a mate with you when the car's collected, you'll feel better!
8. Be firm. The buyer will invariably ask to drive it, check under the bonnet, etc., but tell them it's an auction - they've already bought it & you want the cash up front
9. Don't take Paypal for the full amount: Paypal will refund buyers who haven't had their item posted without question, and then withdraw the funds back from you (s**t myself when I was told this after taking a Paypal payment for a car)
10. Remember, you're in control: Caveat Emptor (Buyer beware) still holds true: they bid, they buy unless you've misrepresented the vehicle

Good Luck!
