Pick out a new car for me!?
My dad just decided to give me his old '97 Explorer (264,000 miles and counting) since it needs new pads, rotors, and calipers. I will probably use it throughout the summer, but I don't really want or need such a big vehicle. Besides, it gets 17 mpg on the highway.
I know that Obama's Cash for Clunkers program is passing the House and it might be worth my while to utilize it, even if it means I'd have to buy a new car (I'd prefer a decent used one) and an American car (I'd prefer to just get another Jetta like I used to have).
I just wanted to get suggestions from people of what to buy. The only real requirements are that it gets good gas mileage and that it has a manual transmission (automatics are boring).
I have no family, just me. I don't haul anything larger than groceries.
It has to be an American car, alas.
It has to be AMERICAN.
And I wouldn't get a Jeep...I don't want an SUV and Wranglers are both ugly and don't handle well.
Get a Honda Civic Si model.
Manual transmission, reliable and gas-saver.
