Where can I sleep in my car in San Francisco?
A buddy and I have decided to embark on a road trip to San Francisco from Orange County. Number 43 on my life's to do list is roadtrip to san fran on as little cash as possible. So, the biggest way to take a chunk out of cost is by sleeping in my truck. Anyone know where this is tolerated/ safe to do?
Leaving on Monday. Leaving to come home Thursday or Friday.

It's against the law to sleep in your car in the city limits, and chances are high that you will be (a) rousted by the police if you're downtown or (b) busted by residents if you're in their neighborhood.
One suggestion might be to go out to Treasure Island to park. Another would be to stay in a hostel, which is about $25/night. The one at Fort Mason is the best for parking.
