Help! Ive been ripped off with a private car sale!?
I live in sydney. On the weekend I bought a car (excel - $3300) priv. sale with 12 months rego. On the way home the car made a clonk sound and the steering went. We have had it checked out and the car has been in an accident and the welding under the car has come undone as it has been done dodgilyand then covered in putty so you couldnt see the welds. The woman I bought the car off is refusing to give us our money back and now we have no cash and no car. At point of sale she looked me in the eye and told me it had never been in an accident. Can anyone give me some advice on what to do? Can the guy who passed it for rego to be held responsible? We are a struggling family and saved up everything we could to get the car, and either want the money or the car fixed! Help!
Sorry this happened to you. I live in the states and here private sales are as is. Try talking to an attorney. If she knew about the accident and lied it could be fraud and that way you could get your money back.Sometimes just having an attorney call for you can get you what you want because people don't want to deal with attorneys and lawsuits. Most attorneys won't charge too much for the phone call and will work on a contingency basis if you do sue.
