Is the Cash for Clunkers program exposing how inefficient the U.S. federal govt. actually is?
I mean this was a tiny operation considering the things the federal govt. wants to do in the future.

As of Wednesday morning, dealers had submitted 435,102 clunker transactions to the Transportation Department and requested $1.8 billion in reimbursements.
In California, which tops the list of states in terms of clunker transactions, most dealerships appear to be sticking with the program. The frenzy of buyer interest that greeted the program when it kicked off July 24 has dropped considerably, partly because of shortages of popular cars such as the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and Ford Focus.
Yes it is, however there are still people who believe that joke of a program to be a success.
Even if they could pay the auto dealers it would still be a joke. Artificial stimulus has always been a failure. You cannot borrow money, hand it out to people and expect to have any thing but debt when you get done.
