pertaining to insurance company and rental car?
I was in an automobile accident that wasn't my fault. the other driver's insurance company is supposedly going to pay for all my repairs (as they should). I also need a rental car as it will take awhile to get my car fixed. I'm under 21 and no rental car company will let me rent one on my own, UNLESS I can get "full coverage" from the insurance company. the problem is the insurance company only wants to send me cash up front to reimberse for the rental car. I don't have anyone that could rent one for me as I don't live near my parents. I asked the insurance company if they would set up a direct bill with the rental car company and they said it was too much of a hassle. Is this legal?
Yes, they are NOT required to directly pay the rental car company.
Unfortunately with your age, the vast majority of rental car companies won't rent to you. Your best bet is to call a little hole in the wall place, or ask the dealership where the car is being fixed, if they will rent a car to you, or give you a loaner.
