can a dealership hold my car tags (I paid for them) for missing car payment? ( car broke down very next day)?
bought a car in WA from used dealership paid 90% of the vehicle in cash including tags etc car broke down very next day, called the dealership left messages, no calls back the temp tags are expired and the dealerships is holding my car tags until I make remainder of payment is this legal?
If you owe money, the dealership can apply any money that you paid to whatever part of the deal that they want. You owe money. You gave your word that you would pay. Pay and get your tags.
If the car was sold AS-IS with no warranty, then the fact that the car broke down has nothing to due with the amount that you owe the dealer. If there was a warranty that the dealer failed to honor, then you may have a claim against the dealer. This potential claim, if it exists, does not excuse you from paying what you owe.
