i found my moms old pinto runabout i want to do a frame off on it?
i found my moms pinto i want back to my home town in may port Florida to show my kids were i grow up and to look up some old friends well driving around i glanced in a back yard and it caught eye a green 76 pinto runabout i remember my mom owned a 76 pinto runabout i went and looked at and could not believe it it was mom's pinto i walked up to the house ask the guy about the he told me he bought the car in the mid 80's witch is the right time frame i asked if he would sell it i would give him 2000 cash for the car any ways i got the car and shipped back to wisconsin the car last ran around 1992 and need a lot of work i want to restore the car back to factory i build hot rods and muscle cars all the time this would 2nd time doing a frame off ever one is giving me a hard time say i should just hot rod the car i don't have a lot from my childhood and my mom is gone now just wondering y'all think i should hot rod the car or restore the car to new
yeah I would definitely restore it to factory (minus the gas tank issues,lol)
that's really cool how you've now got a connection to your mom/childhood
Though I don't know what the market is like on aftermarket/reproduction pinto parts....I know when I restored my mach 1 there was very little in that area past body panels. I had to check ebay and craigslist religiously to get the parts I needed. As well as refurbishing/restoring as much of the car as possible (especially w/ the interior)
Though I know of a few sites just for them, so I'm sure there's an online community for pintos too. As well as clubs too.They're a great way to get info/help on a car.
