some advice needed please on possible blown head gasket?
If anybody could shell any light and help this would be great. My car is due up for it's mot at the end of the month, and i've noticed that it isn't running as smoothly as it should,It's a rover 214 so i had a friend come to have alook at it,its sat on my garden for afew months due to cost of running it.He looked at it and said the head gasket has gone?????? He pulled out the plugs to show me that when he took out a certain one there was a noticeable difference in the sound, and offered me £100 for it as scrap value.I said no and decided to look online for myself,i have checked the oil no signs of water, coolant is ok there is no smoke coming from engine or exhaust. The only thing i have noticed is water leaking from the exhaust where the clip is.I'm no mechanic and i don't want to be taken for a mug so any advice would be gratefully received
The water is dripping out and and leaves a puddle on the floor while ticking over
if anti-freeze is leaking on the floor then change the heater core. he was just trying to get it from you for nothing. if there,s no anti-freeze in the oil or no white smoke then it,s not the head gasket. what you do is change the oil and filter and do a complete tune-up like plugs, wires, cap and rotor.
