How much would a 92' Subara SVX with a busted radiator and egine be worth as far as scrap parts?
A hose on the radiator of my 92' Subaru SVX busted, spilling radiator fluid everywhere. However, due to the weather (pouring rain) I didn't realize it was smoking copiously under my hood until it was too late, and my car died. Now there is also damage to the engine. Otherwise, the car is actually in good condition. What would be a rough amount of how much I should expect to get for it from a salvage yard or something similar?
Not much. As the engine parts are damaged the parts value is nominal.
You'd have to value it for it's raw scrap value only.
There are several businesses that will pay you something like $100 cash for old vehicles to use as scrap metal. Look in the Yellow pages or your local newspaper. This isn't much, but they come and collect the vehicle which otherwise could present as a problem for you.
Make sure that the vehicle is deregistered and the plates have been returned to the RTA before you dispose of it. It would be a good idea to syphon the petrol tank of fuel too.
If there are any parts in useful condition that you can remove and sell yourself before you sell the car body for scrap, do so. It will not make any difference to the price the scrap dealer will pay.
