How to get car title? Car was written off in bankruptcy and now car is racking up fees and I need to salvage.?
in 02 we leased a car, in 05 we tried to return car early due to hubby going to iraq (you are allowed if deployed) they refused to take car back. car went to storage and we stopped paying then had bankruptcy. car has been damaged at storage site and needs to be moved but they won't move it without title. we have been threatened with fees. called finance company and they wont call me back. i need to get this taken care of and just want the car sent to a junk yard. btw its an illinois title if that makes a difference
Give the storage yard the name and number of the finance company since they own the car, and tell them you have no interest in the vehicle and to deal with the them. If the storage fees were handled under bankruptcy, they can't threaten you with fees. If they do, have the attorney that handled your bankruptcy contact them to remind them of the rules.
