How To Junk A Car With No Title
July 17th, 2011 by admin

How do I get a new title for 69 Mustang after I restore it when it was found in a barn with no title in site?

I bought a 69 Mustang off a guy who had it sitting in a barn and left for junk. I'm going to restore it but the car has no title. The original owner probably left it for scrap metal or parts. It's not a stolen car so I don't have to worry about that. The guy that moved into the property sold it to me dirt cheap as long as I removed it. I see those tv shows where people find muscle cars in junkyards all the time and build them up and sell them and I know those cars/shells of car have no titles, so I know they have to have a title some how. How do I go about getting a title for my new Mustang? Thanks!

/ Every state has a Motor Vehicle Department Headquarters...

There is a building or area dedicated just for such cars. These places are run by the state Motor Vehicle facility in conjunction with the state police...

They inspect each vehicle to make sure all the serial numbers match, and are located in the correct areas. They also inspect the car for safety, and run it through their computer system to determine the car's history.

Once all of this is done, and no problems are going on, you will be given a clear title.

Next, you get it inspected, insured, and then tagged.

(PS- I owned a 1969 351 [Windsor/automatic] Mustang, and it would burn rubber, lift the front end slightly, and chirp the tires going from first to second when the secondaries opened up. That was an 'automatic' doing all of that!)

Brand new, in 1969 it was fully loaded and cost around $3500.00.

I miss that car.
