Is it possible to junk an unusable vehicle even if I'm still paying it off?
Here's the issue: 2 years ago, we had an ice storm here in Portland (Ore.). I totalled my van on Portland's icy roads (no car insurance btw) and haven't been able to use it since. It has deteriorated since then naturally, and is parked at a buddy's house. The problem is, my homeboy's sister - who lives with him and his pops - is getting pissy because it is parked there. I feel where she's coming from and want to send it off to rot in the junk yard. I still owe on it though: I have roughly 3K to pay off until it's mine. That's not a lot of $$$ but I'd like to get rid of it ASAP. If I tried to junk it or sell it off (for a very low price of course), would I have to present a deed/title? I won't be able to present a deed/title until I pay it off. If I park it in the street it will get towed and I'll have to pay a lot of money. I just want to get rid of it. I WILL pay it off, of course, because I don't want a negative credit rating. Any suggestions?
Pay it off then get a title so you can legally junk it or donate to one of those free pick-up services advertised locally.
