If your car is unregistered will you be able to register another car?
I live in Rhode Island. My registration on my 2003 Honda Civic expired while I was fighting with a local City to remove an erroneous back taxes owed penalty which prevented me from renewing the registration. After much hassle, it was removed and I can re-register the car. However, I also just bought a brand new SUV on Sunday which replaces my husband's truck that is junked, and we need to pick the SUV up tomorrow. The SUV was bought in my name and needs to be registered in my name. If I give the dealership the paperwork that clears me to be able to register my old car, but it's not registered yet (the DMV is closed today) will I not be able to get the plates to my new car until the old one is re-registered? The dealership told me the paperwork should clear me for the plates on the new car, but I'm not sure if I'll still have sanctions since my other car is now unregistered.
I do not live in Rhode Island, but I am sure you can registar as many vehicles as you want, as long as you pay the taxes on them.
