How much is it roughly for a head gasket repair?
I have a '92 Honda Civic LX and these repair guys told me I need a new head gasket. It keeps overheating and I cant afford their "deal" ($1300) to fix my baby. I know cars of this age have their kinks but I am 17 and just lost my job... WHAT DO I DO??!? HELP ME ANYBODY!!! Any tips on what I can do? How much it is from a junk yard? Any cheap places (with good repair work) in San Diego?
you can ignore it for a little while but you have to keep refilling the coolant. The gasket set is pretty cheap, but the reason it costs so much is because they have to take apart the entire engine and its just a big hassle to do.
try looking for other mechanics to do it, but $1000 is the cheapest you'll be able to go. it takes a lot of labor to do a head gasket repair.
