Where is a cheep, safe place to stop in between the drive from Colorado to California?
I will be making a moving trip by myself from Colorado to Southern California next month. (I will have only my Saturn; I am shipping my junk via air.) I am going by myself, and I have no idea where to stop for a couple hours of rest. (3-4) I don't mind paying full price for a hotel, but I prefer to sleep in my car. (wierd right?) Has anyont made this trip? I wouldn't mind spending an hour looking around a town or something either, but I want to get to Cali as soon as possible. I will be taking the I-70 to I-15 route. (Colorado, Utah, Vegas....) Any answers would help. Thank you!
Pay attention there will be a test on this.
On the downhill run South of St.George UT, I-15
enters AZ and the spectacular Virgin River Gorge at about the same time. In the middle of that twisting road there is an exit ramp for a rest area The rest area proper is on the other side of the highway and it is a beautiful place to rack out .
If for some reason you miss it [like you were concentrating on your driving ] go to the next exit
and turnaround and come back to it.

For what it's worth I sleep much better in my car than I do in motel rooms -of course I have a full sized Buick sw which is really comfortable for sleeping in
