Just bought a car; confused on how to do the paperwork?
I bought a car from a private seller. I bought it on a saturday and the bank couldent do all the stuff that day so I paid the guy and took the car. They told me the title would be sent to my bank..I thought I was supposed to have the title in my car? Dont I need it to get plates? I did pay with a loan if that matters. Thats the first situation I dont know about.
Also. I was wondering about the plates and all that junk. I bought the car in Wisconsin, Im going back to Ohio tomorrow for 2 weeks then Im going to Virginia for 3 months, then to California for 3 years. Where should I get plates? My home is in Ohio so I was thinking there but Im gonna be in Cali for 3 years. How long can I go on the other guys plates before Its not legal? Its been 2 weeks now. The tags expire in July if that matters. Ill be in Cali by then.
Lastly, do you think I can get insurance deductions for having a roll cage in my car? Sounds like it could work but I dont really know. My insurance is USAA.
You need to register the car in California.
If you have a roll cage in the car, it is likely your insurance will be through the roof because it means you are either a very aggressive driver or you will be racing the car. A roll bar is good. A roll cage is not.
If you are financing the car, the title goes to the bank until the car is paid off.
