How Much Can I Expect To Pay A Professional Removal Company?
I'm moving from my family home into a place of my own with my partner - hoorah!, but being new to it all, I was wondering what is a reasonable amount to pay a for a professional company/service to move it all over the course of an afternoon. Is it by the hour/by man/by distance or does it vary? I do have a lot of junk that I can't part with unfortunately and since I don't own a car this is rapidly becoming my only option... Thanks in advance guys!
Rates vary by:
Number of men, size of the truck/ amount of furniture, distance of the move, flights of stairs (at either address).
You need to do as much packing as possible yourself beforehand. Sturdy boxes, well taped and labeled. (Lots of other posts about how to pack). Dismantle furniture (remove mirrors, disconnect electronics, etc. Your cost-per-hour is LOTS less than theirs! If they have to strip the bed before carrying out the mattress, for example, you'll be paying for a lot of hours.
Hourly wages for all kinds of work depend on the part of the country you live in -- add some specifics to your question, and you might get more responses. Oh, and 'Moving Company', not 'Removal'.
