Why do people believe Cash for Cluckers is a success?
Yes, it's popular (why not? after all buyers are getting good deals for new cars). Yes, it's good for the car industry. And yes it's better for the environment (slightly better because most of these cluckers are listed as planned non-operational).
But how did the government pay for the program? Printing more money, rise taxes which all costs inflation. It's practically stealing money from everyone who didn't benefit from the program to pay for those who did. And the obvious side effect is the burning of THREE BILLION dollars in 1.5 month (that's 10 dollars for each American),
Besides the government also used 1 billion in renewable energy funding to pay for this program.
Maybe next time Obama can have a cash for everyone program. Yes it will be popular. Yes it's good for the retailer industry. And yes, it will cost much more inflation.
I still seem to miss what the aims were of this.
People rush out and get shiny new cars and then got a debt and 1 mile per gal increase but actual nothing in the economy to keep their jobs going like keeping the old cars running and stuff. The parts for a car are more profitable than the whole unit.
