Rumble sounds coming from the axle?

Is it a good idea to swap a entire front axle assembly with a scrapped unit / salvaged unit?
Like same car but 50k or less miles?
Mine has 150k i don't think it could hurt it more than it already has been hurt.
Bearings are bad and missing!...they don't come off it's all one simple unit with rubbers etc..
Its best to go with a knew one it would cost about $50 to $80 new depending on which side it is. This way it is warrantied. Does it make a clanking sound? like some thing is breaking when you shift it in gear if so then its the Trans. A wheel Bering will make like a dry popping and squealing. A tie rod end will make a thumping sound when your turning or hit a bump
