private number plate is it lost forever help????
my car had a private number plate. the car had a sorn on it and before it ran out the vehicle was scrapped. when the sorn ran out got a fine of £80 for not notifying the dvla for a new sorn or road tax...now the problem is i got friends telling me to apply for the sorn (on a car that doesnt exist and then transfering the number on a new vehicle ...and others telling me if i do that as the car was not taxed or mot i might be asked to produce the car at a VIC centre... the fine has not been paid yet as i dont know what to tell them... the number was worth alot and i just didnt realise it needed to be put on a retetion b4 the car went...help please

Why not ring the DVLA and ask their advice. You dont have to give specific details so they cant trace you back - you remain anonymous. We could be giving you incorrect information.
