Scrap Car Dealers

scrap car dealers
Do most dealers accept older/dying cars as trade-ins?

I am trying to buy a used Camry to replace my current one, which I am still driving daily, but which has a dying transmission. I asked the dealership I'm looking at (tomorrow) if they accept trade-ins and they said yes, but gave no details. Do most used car dealerships accept older cars for parts/scrap, or do most just accept trades that they can turn around and sell (as "drivers)...??

j/w......

They would take your trade if you drove it off of a cliff and it exploded if it meant making a sale. The problem is you will probably get almost nothing for it. Dealers will often manipulate the numbers so it looks like they are giving you a decent price for your car and charge you more for the one you are buying. EG. They may tell you they are giving you $2000.00 for your old car but charge you $1000.00 more for the car you buy to make up the difference so you really only get $1000.00 for your old car.
