DVLA clamped my car a day before it was going to be scrapped. What do I do?
Help!
My car tax expired at the end of April (less than a month ago). I had no intention of re-taxing it so I have been stripping the parts out to sell and had arranged for someone to collect it TOMORROW.
Today I got home from work and it has been clamped.
Talk about bad timing.
What do I do? I understand I have to pay the fine but I no longer WANT the vehicle.
How much am I going to be expected to pay? How can I arrange for them to remove the clamp tomorrow (to pay £60 instead of £120) without proof that it is being collected and scrapped?
I presume that in England, as it is here in Canada, you have to have insurance on you car. Maybe you could get a letter or statement from your insurance company stating you have dropped the insurance coverage from that car and intend to scrap it. That might help. Well any way, Pipp, Pipp cheero and all that rot !! Have a nice day, EH!!!
