Scrap Car For Parts
November 22nd, 2010 by admin

scrap car for parts
How much should I be looking to get for my LPG converted car when I sell it for scrap/spare parts?

I have a 2000 Ford Focus duel-fuel car, converted in 2004. The cars other issues mean it would be way too expensive to pass its MOT so I need to get rid of it but as far as I can tell the LPG system itself works perfectly.

Should I expect a reasonable sum from a scrapyard or garage for the LPG parts or are they not worth a great deal second-hand?

Thanks

It won't make any difference to the price a scrap yard will give you. The technology used on that 2000 car is different than what would go on a 2011 model or anything close to it.

If you pulled off all of the LPG parts and boxed them up you might find someone to buy the components to convert another 2000 Focus, but that's a long shot...

If the tank does not have a readable rating plate on it, meaning it's not too rusty or it's missing altogether, it would be scrap anyway.
