How to tape a knee if necessary?
The other day i was thrown(literally) by a kid 2 times my size and i scrapped my knee down to the knee cap and i've been keeping good car of it. But when it happend he also ended up jumping on that same knee and hurt it really bad and it hurts to run, i need to know if i should tape it for basket ball. At my local store all they have for tape is sports tape and for pre-wrap is something like it but looks like its been crinkled. WIll this work? Thanks a ton.
To be honest, except for some of the specialized taping techniques (Kinesio taping and McConnell taping) , taping the knee is really not effective. It also tends to be rather uncomfortable.
However, before attempting any treatment, taping or bracing, you need to have your knee evaluated by a health professional. Even if you find out nothing is wrong, at least you will know and you won't be worrying about it for the entire season. If there is something wrong, hopefully you can get it taken care of quickly and be back on the court soon.
