valuable parts of a car?
hi i am going scrapping my opel nova and before i did i would like to know if the are any valuable parts that is parts made out of (Copper, brass, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium, lead) because they pay more for them rather than steel scrap. the only thing i know so far is the radiator is brass anyone got any more. ps. there is a trailer hitch
For the small amounts of metals that you'll retrieve, I don't think you'll really be able to retire from what you're proposing on doing.
The catylitic converter is said to contain about 1,000 pounds worth of Platium. That might be the only thing worth digging around for.
Otherwise, the parts themselves are more valuable than the metals. The rims, transmission, engine are major components that you might be able to sell or you might try to sell them and sit on them for 6 months or a year.
If you do try to break down the car into the various metals, I'm thinking the amounts would be too small for any scrap dealer to want to handle.
You can always donate the car and take it off your taxes.
