Scrap Car Service

scrap car service
Old car with low mileage, is it a bad thing ?

So i have come to that point where i need to buy my first car. I have decided to go for a vw polo mk2. This is just a car which my mum used to own but got scrapped, but its cheap to run/tax and insure so i would like to get one. I have been looking at them for months and none have been great but they 26 year old cars. They range in price a bit, some go for £250 and other go for near on a grand.

I have now seen one i really like, its £950 so right at the top end. Its been re-painted, new exhaust, new sound system. And it only has 28,000 miles on the clock. That is really low but is that a bad thing. I know that if they aren't driven enough then the engine doesn't warm. I just want to know before i part with any money what sort of problems could entail. The owner i am buying it off has had it for 4 years and has done 10,000 miles with it being serviced every 2,500 miles.

Is it a good buy based from what I've told you ?

Repair costs are generally lower on an older cars with low mileage than on newer cars with high mileage.

This is confirmed by the cost of extended service contracts. The cost of an ESC is much more dependant on miles than on age.

Sounds like it has been well maintained. I'd say, have a mechanic look at it, and if there are no glaring issues that need to be addressed go for it.
