Could the garage keep my car if they think it is unfit for the road?
I bought a car 3 days ago, the car comes with a 12 month MOT certificate but on the notes it says that there is excessive corrosion on some parts of the car, this doesn't worry me as I only need the car for about 12 months and will probably scrap it after that, what does worry me is that if I take it in for a service (which I am planning to do) or just an oil & filter change and the mechanic at the garage thinks the car is unfit for the road could they refuse to give me the car back?
No. They can't do that. More likely if the car does not look road worthy you will get pulled over and have it impounded.
