What was your first car?
What make & model was your first car and what age were you when you got it?
I was 18 (now 59) and it was a pale blue, K regn, Austin 1100 (I think 1971). I worked in the office of a coachbuilders and my boss got it for me because it had been in a crash. The guys in the panel shop and paint shop repaired and sprayed it for me. I loved that car and it broke my heart when it was time to go to that great big scrap heap in the sky.
A 1963 Chevy Belair. One night, just after I had backed out of the driveway and had started down the road, the steering wheel came off in my hands. I ended up drifting off the road into a neighbor's yard narrowly missing a gas meter, a utility pole and a bush. If that have happened when I was out on the highway driving at 60 MPH, I probably wouldn't be here right now typing in this answer...
Oh, and I was 18 at the time. I am now 58...
