Scrap Car Weight

Money For Scrap Cars?

I had a business idea that I think could potentially make a few bucks. My buddy gets premium pay from a local scrap metal company. Also I have learned you can get a few bucks for radiators, alternators, batteries, and cat converters. I have heard that a lot of what they pay is determined by the market at that moment in time. Is there any website that shows how much money steel is worth at any given time? Also does anyone know of a database to find the weights of vehicles so that I may properly quote someone selling me their junk car?

Forget "properly quoting" the car.
The money lies in the fact that a scrap car is generally a liability to it's owner.
Cat converters and sensors generally have about $250(Min.) worth of platinum in them.
The average Joe gets less than $150 for the 'junker'.
The 'value added' is in removal and delivery of the proper metal to the proper user.
