"Cash for Clunkers" (CARS) Survey?
Hi! My husband and I are in the process of car shopping (with impetus from the CARS "Cash for Clunkers" program). If you have bought a car recently with this program, I have a couple questions for you.
-- What kind of car did you get, and what is the MSRP for it?
-- Did your dealer offer any other incentives besides the $3500 or $4500 from the CARS rebate program?
-- What was your approximate total out-the-door cost (including tax, licensing, and document fees)?
-- Were you still able to negotiate to get your car at or below invoice price? Or, since the demand is currently so high, did you find that dealers were less motivated to sell for much below the MSRP?
-- Did your dealer give you credit for the scrap value of your "clunker" vehicle?
Thanks for answering these questions!
I was about to buy a 2009 fully loaded altima for $30000 then they took it down to 27000 then 25000 but it still wasn't in my price range so as i was about to leave they chopped it down to 22000 with tax, and all other fees included. I have to admit it was a great offer but i didn't take it because it felt better to buy a used. Unfortunately we were not qualified for the CARS program we were trying to trade a 2001 chevy cavalier. But delaers are willing to take prices below the invoice price if you really try.
