Scrapping A Car Logbook
April 5th, 2011 by admin

Buying a scrap car?

Im looking to buy a scrap car for a music video which Im producing,
I have seen a car going for 55 quid, I dont intend to drive the car, it will be towed to the location we are filming at, the car hasnt passed an mot anyway so it wouldnt be road worthy,so id just be towing it to the place where we are filming and literally leaving it there,

Would i need to register the car or have to fill in any paper work to do this like logbook etc even though I have no intention of driving the car or running it?

Thank you in advance

Yes you will have to register it in your name - the previous owner will take down your details and send off the logbook to the DVLA, who will then send you a logbook in your name. Once you have finished filming your music video it's your responsibility to dispose of the vehicle, legally and morally! It's part of the costs involved in making your video, why should the local authority have to pay to dispose of it?
