what is a fair price for scrap steel?
I work for a little old lady that lives on a farm (she's 86 years old). She has asked me to haul away some of the old scrap that she has on her property (cars, trucks, tractors, campers and just plain junk). I called around and got prices of $180-220 a ton for the steel depending on whether it was sheet metal or unprepared metal, and 160 a ton for the cars. Would 25 percent of each load be to much to charge or do you think that you be a fair price for me to charge her?
I already know where I'm going to take the steel. I'm asking if me charging her 25 percent of what ever the total amount that she gets is a fair price. (i.e. If I haul $2,000 worth of scrap, then she gives me $500). Does that seem like a fair price?
depending on where u live try cash for cars they will pay u to haul ur used car.
becuase dumping steel in a dump will cost you a hell lot of money as they charge per pound. there are also peps u can get on craigslist that will pick up scrap for free..! anyway it should not cost u a penny to do this the best thing u can get is have someone pay u for it... if u take it to those scrap places they pay u for junk scrap... now if u are shrewd then u can get those guys to pay u for the steel then charge the 86 yr ol lady a fee for removal.. get paid twice..!
