Tips on replacing cylinder head on Ford Escort 1.8tdi?
Hi I am thinking of changing cyl head on my Escort Tdi 94 model.
Do you know of any good suppliers of refurbed heads or is it better to use the existing head and change the damaged bits,what will need changing all valves or some..etc?
My cambelt broke a while back and am tempted to repair rather than scrap my car I wont get much for it in present state but if repairable I might get two years use out of it.
The decision I suppose is to take it apart and see what damage has occured first.

don't scower the plates when you scrape off the old gasket.
after you have tightened the new one on(tightening each screw a bit at a time, by the way all equal amounts with the use of a torque wrench) run the engine for 20 mins and then tighten the head bolts again.
