How much will my car sell at Carmax?
I'm looking to sell my car to Carmax -- I don't want to deal with the hassle of selling my car privately. I have a 1993 Honda Civic - The interior is in great shape, the only downfall of my car is a small dent in the front of the hood, the paint is a LITTLE faded (not too noticeable), the cd player broke out, and it has 204,300 miles on it. It drives great, it runs good, it looks decent. I went to KBB and it said in between about $600 (fair condition) - and - $1200 (Good condition) So, I'm thinking that about $700 to $800 would be good. I'm not taking any less than $500 for sure. How much do you think I can get? Only serious answers please. Thanks!
KBB overvalues cars. Edmunds.com puts their trade in value at around $500 in 'clean' condition (the mileage kills the value). You'll be lucky to get that from Carmax, but you never know.
Just put it on craigslist for $950 and take whatever offer you think it reasonable. It will probably sell in a day. Selling a cheap car like that really isn't much of a hassle as long as you say "cash only."
