Can I import and sell brand new mercedes benz and sell it in India myself?
Can I import brand new Mercedes Benz, BMW and Porsche on my own and sell it in India as an ordinary car dealer while there are already official dealers for these Makes such as Tai Pan for M. Benz? I just wanted to be sure that by doing so I won't be breaking any of india's law? As elsewhere like in Hong kong you can do so but it won't be called a dealer's car but M. Benz still provide 2 years warranty to all their new cars whether its sold by their official dealer or private dealer. Moreover this 2 years warranty is also provided by the local official dealer even though the car wasn't bought through them, they call it "World Wide Warranty".
For example my company is called ABC Motors, and for all the brand new M. Benz sold by me here in India, the 2 years warranty will still be provided by the local official dealer TAI PAN MOTORS on behalf of Mercedes Benz whether they like it or not.
It's not easy importing cars to India as the exorbitant custom rates will double the buying cost of your car. Besides, Mercedes has its own outlets in cities across the country and the laws regarding authorized imports is pretty complicated. Your best best is to become a franchisee of luxury car brands that are already in India.
