What are the laws in Michigan for committing Fraud?
I am dealing with a case in my Business and Personal Laws class. In this case someone had the odometer on their car fixed, but the miles on the odometer weren't the true miles for the car(it stated 30,000 miles when there were really about 100,000 miles). He then proceeded to sell the car to someone and not tell them that the mileage was incorrect. I need to know what kind of fraud he committed and what punishment he would receive under the law.
If your client did not know that the odometer was defect, he did not commit a crime! Is there any evidence that he did know?
