Sell My Car Minnesota

sell my car minnesota
Live in Minnesota, buying a car (Private Party) in Wisconsin - What do I do about License Plates? Help!?

Hi everyone!

I live in Minnesota, and currently own a vehicle titled & registered (with currently license plates) here in Minnesota.

My parents, who live in Wisconsin, bought me a newer vehicle, and we will be meeting half way to trade vehicles. My question is this- I believe the gentleman who is selling the car to my parents will be keeping his current Wisconsin license plates, and putting them on his new car. That means when they drive to meet me, it will have no plates. When we trade (aside from signing titles over, etc.), what do I do with the plates? Do I put the plates I have on my current vehicle on the new, and then drive back home (at which time I think I have 30 days to register the car & pay applicable taxes in MN), or do I leave it with no plates?

How should this be handled?

Thank you in advance for your help.

go down to your states dmv, explain this to them, you should be able to buy a temporary permit, you will need insurance, before you do this, so get the vin number from the new owner, to give to the insurance company. it should not be that big a deal.
