why is my amp overheating??
i had this stereo in my old car.
when i sold it i took everything out.
i used 8Ga wire in my old car, this time i used 4ga. when i push my volume up, the amp cuts out for a while and the light blinks. then it comes back, its never hot to the touch...
idk if its overheating, or somethings wrong with my connections. its wired the same as it was in my old car, and my old car could pound for hours on end and nothing like this would happen...
also it does not have any fans its all heatsink. (phoenix gold) the sub is an alpine type X
and dont tell me the sub is overpowering the amp, because it pounded fine in my old car for long periods of time. with this same setup. the only diff is my wires are bigger. from the batt and ground.
does anyone have any advice of things to do?
Make sure your ground connection is solid. A loose or improper ground can make the amp shut down to protect itself.
