Sell My Car Today For Cash

sell my car today for cash
Used Car Buyer Rights. Do I Have Any?

I just bought a used car 15 days ago from one of those low end car dealers that sell high mileage cars. 2002 VW Jetta 1.8 Turbo with 87k miles for $6000 cash. Car runs & looks great. I decided to take it to the local VW dealer today just to have them go through the car to see if there might be some potential problems that could arise. To my shock, the dealer told me that I need a whole new transmission! I trust this VW service dept. as I have dealt with them for years. Well my question is, even if I didn't purchase a warranty, can I return this car? I can't afford 4K for a new tranny plus another 3K for labor.

Damn TopSource. It would be a blessing if just once you would read the links you post, comprehend them, then make sure they apply to the question.

There is NO law that protects you from buying junk. You did this ass-backward by taking it to the mechanic AFTER you agreed to buy the car. You agreed to buy a car with a bad transmission. Now you own the bad transmission and the repair bill that comes along with it.

If you cant afford repairs, you MUST take preventative measures to protect your money. That is why we preach: "Get a mechanical inspection before you sign!!" Once you sign you own.

If you had millions, the repair bill wouldnt matter, right? But you dont. You are like 99% of the people in the US, on a limited budget, with little margin for error. Why then would you NOT protect yourself from making a bad decision? See how smart it would have been to spend the $100 up front, not after it was too late?

Let me stress this last part: If you go to court, you will not win. You bought a nine year old car with 87,000 miles on it. You bought the car you were shown in the condition it was presented. There is no warranty, guarantee or law that will save your bacon.
